Code of Ethics in Computing by Poushali Ganguly

Ethic refers to the standards and rules that “should” be followed and it helps us to regulate our conduct in a group or with a set of individuals. As computer and Internet or intranet has come big time in our lives and it is an interactive medium where we can directly or indirectly communicate with people. We can put forward our opinions and suggestions, there has to be an ethical base for it wherein we communicate and interact within a given set of guidelines and do not cross the limit. Since the term Ethics is a relative term, it is branched under philosophy, which states how users of World Wide Web should make decisions regarding their conduct.
Computer Ethics is becoming more and more important as the users arte increasing everyday and there is no way to check what kind of people are actually using it. Therefore it is a just to educate all the users about the ethics and the issues that can be considered as violation of ethics. Thus Computer Ethics helps us to solve the legal issues that crop up everyday, to underline and solve those violations that were not defined by the older laws; to form new laws, rather to form a organized structure of laws to govern the world of internet, which is termed as “cyber law”.
The primary concerns of computer ethics is identifying the ethical issues, which fall in the broad category of copyright issues, issues concerning privacy and censorship. Today every individual has to enter into the cyber society, irrespective of your field of work and without the knowledge of computer ethics. It will be difficult for you to survive since you might end up either doing something unethical or being a part of it or unnecessarily be a victim.
Spamming and sending e-mails concerning to sabotage something are practices which have become too banal to be done something about though your internet portal would facilitate your account so that you receive minimum of all the crap. Now in some cases the main deal is to identify the issue like if there is information provided on the Internet somebody could use it as a source of information and more research could be done on the basis of the information provided. In some cases this is listed under copyright violation.
There are issues that are confusing as there is a slight demarcation between the ethical and the unethical. For example, there are many kinds of cases that can fall under “hacking”, copyright issues, and privacy and censorship issues. Experts are defending and arguing on all these issues to make a defined structure of cyber policies. There are bodies of experts who are trying to deal with cyber laws and they have also formed code of ethics for the same purpose of forwarding it in a structural and defined form that defines from the legal, social and political perspective. Let me give you a glimpse of what a code of ethics is which is based on the principles of the interests of the cyber community, competence, truth, social justice and ethical behavior.
Code of Ethics
- Information stored on the computer should be treated as seriously as written or spoken word.

- Information for public viewing should not be modified or deleted or inaccessible since these are considered as destructive acts.
- Intrusive software such as “worms” and “viruses” which are destructive to the computer system is also illegal.
- Congesting somebody’s system with a lot of unwanted information is also unethical.
- Sending obscene and crude messages through mail or chat is also forbidden.

Choosing the Proper Security Solutions
Choosing the Proper Security Camera and Security Equipment is important, if you dont you may find your self not properly protected from the Bad guys! they are getting more crafty these days and can know how to disable your system possibly before they even get in range of your cameras to be seen! WOW….. YOU MUST SAY, here is how someone might try and disable your system.
for starters… Any Camera system is usually connected to a network… in case of home users they usually have a Wireless router haning out somewhere in their house… and its most times secured with WEP Protection on your router. that encryption type can be hacked resulting in cameras being disabled Especially if the default codes are left on your recording unit and your Router. Simply by getting on your Wireless network by force with some commonly known programs like BACK TRACK – a security testing suite. – in the DHCP table area of the router there is listed local IP’s such as 192.168.2.15 etc? they can find the IP and connect to that, cause they are on your network at this point. they then can either watch your cameras without your knowledge.. and OR Disable them by logging into your DVR / Recorder. with a standard manufacturers password. Leaving your systems down. and or Erasing footage from your Cameras Etc! SO SCARY..Its important to Hire a Company Like JTG SYSTEMS to properly secure all aspects of your SECURITY.. any Leaks or holes in the security is no security at all!… Call us at (905) 892 4555 for more information and to have one of our agents test your DVR security and network security.
Here is a bit of how wifi works:
Wi-Fi, or wireless networking, allows electronic devices including desktops, laptops, tablets and smart phones to access the internet without the need for wires or cables. By eliminating the need for expensive and tedious wiring projects, Wi-Fi has made it easier to create everything from secure home networks to public hotspots.Wireless network adapters (also known as wireless NICs or wireless network cards) are required for each device on a wireless network. Some newer laptop computers incorporate wireless adapters as a built-in feature of the system. Separate add-on adapters must be purchased for most computers, however.
Popular wireless network adapters for PCs exist… As more devices ship with wireless networking capabilities, it becomes increasingly important to have routers that are capable of handling connections from hardware such as tablets, laptops and mobile phones. The problem is that many routers still in use are perfectly good pieces of hardware, except for one drawback – they don’t support…

Faulty Acer Hinge recall?

Faulty Acer Hinges
why is it that some acer laptops we get in for repair have faulty hinges? Acer claims that is not their concern even though after calling several times about the issue, We get the excuse its past warranty. the customers have only had their notebook for 1.5 years. not that long really? how can they justify spending $1200? on another higher end acer notebook.. the company in our opinion should rectifiy the issue of faulty hinges and weak cheaper plastic… especially in the hinge area. this would be a great selling feature – sticker saying Now featuring Reinforce Hinges! i think people would by them more often. alot of companies dont advertise things that would be a for sure up sell.. like even things that are commmon sense like Compatible with All Solid State Drives! or Built for Speed. ,things like that. when you buy your next acer check if the screen is top heavy and that the hinges dont look like they will break,, Check the display models to see if any signs of wear on hinges. that will let you know if yours is going to last or not!
